New installs, removal and reinstall
AC installation in Saudi Arabia
Correct installation decides how an AC performs for years. An excellent unit installed badly — with poorly sealed copper connections, an outdoor unit in a badly ventilated spot or a drain with the wrong slope — will cool less, use more electricity and fail sooner.
Whether you’ve bought a new AC or you’re moving home and need your units removed and reinstalled, send one request through SaudiAirCondition and it reaches AC installation companies in your city.

What does AC installation include?
A complete installation service usually includes these steps:
Site survey
Choosing suitable spots for the indoor and outdoor units, considering airflow, maintenance access and drainage.
Mounting the units
Fitting a solid base or bracket for the outdoor unit and levelling the indoor unit correctly.
Copper piping and insulation
Running copper pipes at the right length, insulating them well and sealing the joints to prevent freon leaks.
Drainage
Laying the drain line with the correct slope so water never runs back into the room.
Electrical connection
Connecting the AC to a power supply suited to its capacity, following good practice.
Vacuum and commissioning
Evacuating air and moisture from the pipes, then running the unit and checking pressure and cooling.
When do you need an installation service?
The most common reasons people request installation:
- Buying a new AC
When installation isn’t included in the purchase, or you want to compare installation prices. If you have not bought the unit yet, request offers on a new AC with installation.
- Moving home
Carefully removing units from the old home, pumping down the freon and reinstalling them in the new one.
- Replacing an old unit
Removing the old unit and installing the new one, including assessing the existing copper pipes.
- Relocating an AC at home
Moving the indoor or outdoor unit for better cooling or appearance.
- A new home or villa
Installing several units or pre-piping before final finishing.
- A poor earlier installation
Repeated leaks or weak cooling caused by bad installation that needs redoing.
Installing different AC types
Installation differs by AC type. To help you choose, read: Split, window or central?
Split AC installation
The most requested; needs copper piping, drainage and mounting two units.
Window AC installation
Needs a suitable wall opening plus solid mounting and sealing around the unit.
Central and concealed ACs
A larger project including ducts and design. See central AC.
Cassette and floor-standing
Installed in false ceilings or as floor units — common in majlis rooms and offices.
What affects installation cost?
Installation cost depends on each site. The main factors are:
- AC type and capacity
Installing a large split differs from a window unit; central systems are separate projects.
- Length of copper piping
The distance between units sets the amount of copper and insulation, and may require extra freon.
- Outdoor unit location
High roofs and facades may need ladders, lifting equipment or special brackets.
- Extra work
Opening a wall, running a new power line or hiding pipes in trunking.
- Reinstall or new install
Removal and transport add pump-down and moving work and may need a freon top-up.
- Number of units
Installing several units in one visit can lower the per-unit cost.
Ask the company to state what the offer includes (copper, insulation, bracket, drainage), what is charged extra, and the warranty on the installation.

AC installation FAQs
Where is the best place for the outdoor unit?
A well-ventilated spot out of direct sun where possible, easy to reach for maintenance and at a sensible distance from the indoor unit. The technician will suggest the best location after a survey.
Can an AC be moved to another home without losing freon?
In many cases the freon can be pumped down into the outdoor unit before removal, but some loss is possible and the unit may need a top-up after reinstalling. The technician will assess this on site.
Can old copper pipes be reused?
Sometimes, if they are in good condition and the right size for the new unit. Many technicians still recommend new piping to ensure tight joints and efficient cooling.
How long does a split AC installation take?
It depends on the pipe length, outdoor unit location and number of units. Ask the company for the expected duration when booking.
Is the installation covered by a warranty?
The installation warranty is set by the installing company and is separate from the manufacturer’s warranty on the unit. Ask for it in writing.
Do you install central AC?
You can request central and concealed AC offers via our central AC & ducts page — these are projects that need a survey and design.
